C. Ray Mahoney
Clarence Ray Mahoney, 77, Heber City, died of natural causes on July 27 in a Salt Lake hospital.
He was born on September 17, 1889 in Elkhorn, Wasatch Co., to Elmer Clarence and Nancy Jane Jones Mahoney.  He married Ann Bond on April 29, 1931.
He was an active member of the LDS Church.  Retired bookkeeper, Heber Mercantile Co., Heber City Exchange.  He was a veteran [of] World War I.
Survivors: widow, sons, and daughter, Stephen B., Walnut, Calif.; Clarence B., Dugway; Mrs. Melvin (Annette) Anderson, North Logan; 12 grandchildren; brothers, sister, J. Rolla, Salt Lake City; Ernest, Winnemucca, Nev.; Louris V., Center Creek; Rodney, Heber City; Mrs. Lindsay B. (Thelma) Anderson, Provo.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Heber Sixth LDS Ward Chapel.
Burial was in the Heber City Cemetery.

Della Sweat & A Ewing Peterson

Della Sweat was one of Emeline's sisters.
She married Andrew Ewing Peterson on 16 Jun 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Thus, she became Della Sweat Peterson.

A personal history written by Della S Peterson (and found in the personal albums of Veda Cox) had this to say on the matter:
"... After teaching for one year I married my sweetheart "Andrew Ewing Peterson" after he returned from the U.S. Marine Corp. after World War I.  We were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 16, 1920.  Bill Price and Levenie Gibson went with us and were married the same day in the Salt Lake Temple.  We had such a good time...."

Orvel Sweat
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and devoted family Patriarch Orvel Sweat, 89, died June 27, 1983 at home after a short illness.  He was born April 2, 1894 at Center Creek, Wasatch Co., Utah to Louis and Elizabeth Broadhead Sweat.  Married Bertha Leona Galli June 16, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  She died Dec. 31, 1973.  Married Ruth Giles Davis July 23, 1974 in the Provo LDS Temple.
He attended school at Center Creek and was a self-taught veterinarian, ranchers from all around called on him to doctor their animals.  He was a lifetime farmer and rancher.  Took great pride in his horses and cattle.  He always managed to have the best.  He was still riding horses this spring and helped his sons break horses last summer and helped branding the cattle.  He herded the cattle in the East Daniels District for several years.  He held many positions in the auxiliaries of the church and at the time of his death was an active high priest in his ward.  He was an ardent temple worker both in the Salt Lake and Provo temples.  Had been a home teacher for over 75 years.
He retired from ranching in 1964 and moved to Heber, where he had resided since.
He is survived by his wife of Heber, five daughters and two sons: Mrs. Earl (Edna) McDonald, LeRoy G. and Doyl V. of Center Creek; Mrs. Forrest (Viola) Giles and Mrs. Ray (Wilva) Anderson of Heber; Mrs. LeRoy (Ruby) Flitton and Mrs. Gale (June) Desmond of Salt Lake City.  A step-daughter Mrs. Thomas (Faye) Henrie of Silver Spring, Maryland.  36 grandchildren, 123 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.  Brothers and sisters Mrs. Della Peterson, Otis and Delbert Sweat of Center Creek, Mrs. Lyman (Nina) Fawson of Grantsville, Utah.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 1, 1983 at 1 p.m. at Heber 4th Ward, 176 West 500 So. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary, Heber City Thursday evening 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour before services at the chapel.  Burial will be in the Heber City Cemetery.

BIRTH: 25 Sept 1887- Center Creek, Wasatch, Utah
DEATH: 9 Mar 1972- Heber City, Wasatch, Utah
He was 84 years old when he died.

The following comes from a document entitled, "Life Story of Elmer Sweat" (p.6).  It was found in the personal albums of Veda Cox and gives some detail on his last moments in life:
"... Elmer became ill.  It just seemed that his body finally wore out.  Doctors talked of him showing signs of having had a heart attack.  They finally did a prostate operation which they said went well but from that time on Elmer was not always in the present.  Boyd and Shirley took him to their home and cared for him there.  He wanted to be in Center Creek so [he] would not come to any of the girls homes.  The day before he died some of his brothers visited him and they said he was able to talk with them and they had a nice visit.  He died 9 March 1972 in the hospital in Heber, his daughter Veda being with him that day.  He was buried in the Heber Cemetery.  He had seven brothers and sisters still living all attended his viewing and funeral."

... Louris Vere Mahoney, 94, died June 7, 1986 in a Heber City hospital.  Born November 1, 1891 in Elkhorn, Wasatch County to Elmer C. and Nancy Jones Mahoney.  Married Mary Crook August 18, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  She died April 14, 1986.
Active member LDS Church.  Served in the Center Ward Bishopric.  Provo Temple Worker.  Served in all auxillary organizations, High Priest Group Leader, Secretary of Lake Creek Irrigation Company 50 years.  Spent 12 summers herding cattle in the mountains with is wife and family.  Avid hunter and fisherman.
Survived by children: Carl and Afton Anderson, Dale and Lucile Mahoney all of Salt Lake City; Neil and Doris Mahoney, Melvin and Ruth Carlile all of Lake Creek; Glenna Lloyd of Charleston.  Twenty-one grandchildren.  Brothers and sister: Ernest Mahoney Salt Lake City; Rodney Mahoney, Heber City; and Mrs. Lindsay (Thelma) Anderson, Provo.  Preceded in death by a son, Grant Mahoney, a grandson, Phil Mahoney and a son-in-law, Joseph Lloyd.
Funeral services were held Tuesday 12:00 Noon.  Burial Heber City Cemetery.
