Ernest E. Mahoney
COTTONWOOD- Ernest E. Mahoney, age 91, our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, died September 20, 1989.
He was born August 5, 1898, in Lake Creek, Wasatch County, Utah to Elmer Clarence and Nancy Jane Jones Mahoney. On July 20, 1920, he married Bessie Johnson, in Rupert, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. As a young man, he worked in the Park City Mines and later for the Utah State Road Commission. He also worked for the Gold Acres Mine in Nevada where he was the shovel operator, then advanced to Mine Superintendent. Ernest retired at he age of 70, and he and his wife moved back to Salt Lake where he became a school crossing guard. His loving companion and wife of 63 years passed away September 1983. Ernest was a member of the High Priest Quorum in the Cottonwood 8th LDS Ward.
Survivors: daughter, Farel M. Smith, Sandy, Utah; Betty M. Symes, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister, Thelma Anderson, Provo; preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Reva.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25, 1989, at 1:00 p.m. in the Cottonwood 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 6310 So. 2300 East. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State, Midvale, Sunday from 7-8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Heber City Cemetery.

Because Ernest died in the last 50 years his death certificate will not become publicly available until around the year 2039. When it is available I will post it here.
